Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she completed her secondary education. With a deep-rooted love for family law, Ashley's present legal practice is centered around a variety of aspects of family issues. She concentrates her practice on divorce cases, alimony disputes, marital property division fights over child custody and child support arrangements. She also deals with post-divorce and enforcement issues including step-parent adoptions as well as private adoptions at parties as well as concerns about child welfare. Ashley has been a mediator appointed by the court since the year. She helps parties resolve their disputes without the need for court or litigation involvement. In addition to mediations arranged by the court, Ashley also mediates in private cases for people who would like to avoid the litigation and court process.
After finishing her undergraduate education at Loyola University of Maryland, where she received two bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. When she graduated in 2013, she excelled academically, ranking among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was an Editor of the Notes at the Western New England Law Review during her time at law school. This was a sign of her dedication to scholarship and research in the field of law.
Ashley began her clerkship career after she completed her law degree. She was employed by renowned jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She had the pleasure of working as a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. Then, in 2014, she returned home to her hometown of Hagerstown to serve as a clerk for the Honorable M. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her primary role in the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services on cases dealing with child welfare. Through her dedication, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who had suffered neglect or abuse at the hands of their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social justice spanned beyond the realm of law and she was active as a board member for the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force and worked tirelessly to raise awareness about human trafficking in the tri-state region.
In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and developed her practice in family law including custody, divorce and child maintenance as well as guardianships and estate and financial planning – wills, trusts, power of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy – and mediation.
Ashley created Wilburn Law Office, LLC, in 2023, with a commitment to providing an individual approach to each client's requirements.
